Snapbot lands in LA again, this time in a Spectacles pop-up shop

Spectacles are available to buy online in the US since Feb 20, but it hasn't stopped the Snapbot from traveling across the country. This time Snapbot got back to 'where it all started' - in Venice, LA, selling the frames in a Spectacles pop-up shop on the Venice broadwalk. https://twitter.com/TimWatson/status/839889431444127744

Home, sweet home

The Venice Spectacles pop-up shop is a physical retail location where one can buy a pair of video sunglasses from Snapchat's vending machine called Snapbot. It's located on Ocean Front Walk, steps away from Snap Inc's Venice headquarters. Priced at $129.99, Spectacles are designed to capture exciting (and boring) life moments from its owner's prospective and saving them and posting them in the Snapchat app.

The first Spectacles pop-up shop launched in NYC on November 21st and closed a few months later, on February 20th. Snapchat's Snapbot was also seen at NYSE when it went public on March 2, when it was captured in NYSE and Miranda Kerr's (a top model and Snap Inc CEO Evan Spiegel's fiancee) Snapchat Stories.

A spy with my little eye...

Despite selling Spectacles online, Snapchat is not putting the Snapbot to bed any time soon. A fun cartoon-y character, Snapbot is likely to continue its journey. Not only you can track it on a special Map, you can see if one is nearby in the Snapchat app. If you can see a Spectacles Geofilter in Snapchat, be sure to check the bot location as it's somewhere nearby.

Wonder where Snapbot has been so far? Here's a map that tracks its first past appearances. This Twitter account tracks Snapbot movements across the US and posts regular updates on its location.

Snapchat Spectacles pop-up shop in Venice, CA, is open from 11am until “sunset” every day at 701 Ocean Front Walk, Venice, CA 90291.
